Betsy's Blossoms: Watermelon

Watermelon...Yum, Yum, Yum!  I just love watermelon.  When I was making this card, I had a hard time not stopping to go cut a piece of watermelon to eat.  The pieces of watermelon were created with one of the flower stamps from the Betsy's Blossoms stamp set.  It is so fun to take stamps and find other ideas to use them for. What would my card be without using something created from the Big Shot.  I embossed the Primrose Petals piece of card stock with the Houndstooth Embossing Folder and used the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit to cut the Daffodil Delight piece to hi-light the pieces of watermelon.  OK that's it...I can't take it anymore...I have to have some watermelon!

Betsy's Blossoms: Sending Many Thanks

The Betsy's Blossoms stamp set is a super fun stamp set to work with.  I got this inspiration from Lori Beck.  I really wanted a little background color but still wanted to be able to stamp the stems and leaves without masking them.  Well for the background color I made my own stencil.  Directions below:
Step 1 - Cut a piece of cardstock 2 3/8" x 3 3/8".
Step 2 -  Center the 2 3/8" x 3 3/8" card stock on a piece of  Whisper White card stock 4" x 5 1/4" and then trace it with a pencil.
Step 3 - Take the 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock and draw a pencil line across each corner about 1/4" in from each corner. Use a 12" Trimmer and cut the straight edge on all 4 sides up to the corner pencil lines.  This will leave the 2 3/8" x 3 3/8" section still attached at each of the 4 corners.

Step 4 - Take a Paper Snips scissors and cut on all 4 diagonal lines cutting out the piece in the center.
Step 5 - Next take the Jewelry Tag Punch and punch in each of the 4 corners to round the corners. (You could really do this step with any punch with a curved edge on it that gives you the rounded corner size you would like for your template.)
Step 6 - You still have some white paper left in the corners that you will trim with your Paper Snips to give you a rounded corner look.
Step 7 - This shows a view of all 4 corners trimmed.
Step 8 - This shows you a close-up of what all 4 corners should look like when you are done.  Once you get the template made you can keep it for future use.  This was such a fun way to have a lighter sponged effect behind your stamping.  You could also use any of the framelits to cut out the piece in the center and sponge in the open area like I did on this card.
