This card was done for the August 2012 Creative Challenge Contest held by Dawn Olchefske, my Stampin' Up! Upline. This months challenge was "Back to School/Fall". I just love the Perfectly Preserved stamp set. Well maybe it's just because this summer/fall I have been doing a lot of freezing and canning things from our garden. No, I'm not the garden person in my family, that would be my sweet husband who has a big and a little garden, plus this year our apple trees have produced an over abundance of apples. I think I have made over 25 pies. Just made another 11 today. My freezer is full. Sure will taste good this winter. Well back to my card; I tend to get side-tracked sometimes. I wanted to do something different with this set since I have been working with apples so much lately. I decided to take a different approach and start thinking about Thanksgiving. Why not make it a jar of canned pumpkin and a pumpkin pie? Oh my, wouldn't pumpkin pie taste GREAT right about now? With the steam coming off the pumpkin pie; I can almost smell it not to mention taste it. YUM !
Here is a close-up of the fancy little cover on the jar. I wanted to show how I used my Piercing Tool and punched holes and then used a needle and sewed from hole to hole to make it look like I tied the Natural Linen Thread around the cover. Makes me want to start making "Gifts in a Jar" for Christmas gifts.
This gives you an idea of all the layers I used for this card. For the pumpkin pie, I used a Large Oval Punch and the Scallop Oval Punch for the pumpkin and the pie crust. For the pie plate I just made up my own design to make it look like a silver pie plate. The "to my friend" stamp from the Friendly Phrases stamp set was just what I would have used had I made a pumpkin pie and given it to a friend as a surprise. Well I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it. Have a GREAT fall!Bobbi's Stamping Supplies
