Perfectly Preserved: August 2012 Creative Challenge

This card was done for the August 2012 Creative Challenge Contest held by Dawn Olchefske, my Stampin' Up! Upline.  This months challenge was "Back to School/Fall".  I just love the Perfectly Preserved stamp set.  Well maybe it's just because this summer/fall I have been doing a lot of freezing and canning things from our garden.  No, I'm not the garden person in my family, that would be my sweet husband who has a big and a little garden, plus this year our apple trees have produced an over abundance of apples.  I think I have made over 25 pies.  Just made another 11 today.  My freezer is full.  Sure will taste good this winter.  Well back to my card; I tend to get side-tracked sometimes.  I wanted to do something different with this set since I have been working with apples so much lately.  I decided to take a different approach and start thinking about Thanksgiving.  Why not make it a jar of canned pumpkin and a pumpkin pie?  Oh my, wouldn't pumpkin pie taste GREAT right about now?  With the steam coming off the pumpkin pie; I can almost smell it not to mention taste it.  YUM !

Here is a close-up of the fancy little cover on the jar.  I wanted to show how I used my Piercing Tool and punched holes and then used a needle and sewed from hole to hole to make it look like I tied the Natural Linen Thread around the cover.  Makes me want to start making "Gifts in a Jar" for Christmas gifts.
This gives you an idea of all the layers I used for this card.  For the pumpkin pie, I used a Large Oval Punch and the Scallop Oval Punch for the pumpkin and the pie crust.  For the pie plate I just made up my own design to make it look like a silver pie plate.  The "to my friend" stamp from the Friendly Phrases stamp set was just what I would have used had I made a pumpkin pie and given it to a friend as a surprise.  Well I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it.  Have a GREAT fall!

Bordering on Romance: Thank You

When the  Floral District Designer Series Paper came out I totally fell in love with this print with the Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White and Gumball Green, one of my new favorite colors for 2012.  The only problem was I just couldn't come up with a way to work the paper into a card.  Well, low and behold, Kelly Acheson came to the rescue.  This was one of the cards we made at a Stamp Camp I had in June 2012.  My guests loved it as much as I did.  Thanks Kelly for your inspiration.

Blooming with Kindness: July 2012 Creative Challenge

I love, love, love this card.  Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango; two of my favorite colors together.  This card was done for the July 2012 Creative Challenge Contest held by Dawn Olchefske, my Stampin' Up! Upline.  She holds a Creative Challenge Contest for our Stampin' Up! team members monthly.  Each month has a different theme.  This month was "ANYTHING NEW".  How fun was it to use two of my favorite colors with some of the new items from the NEW 2012-13 Stampin' Up! Catalog.
Here is a close-up showing all the layers to the card.  I cut the two flower layers on top of the  Melon Mambo from the same framelits die.  You would think the Tangerine Tango layer would have been a circle but when you off-set the petals on the flower it makes it look a circle.  We don't have a circle that size so it was a GREAT way to add in another layered color.  Love it!!!
